Pre-release hub — the demo is live, the retail build is not
Release is 15 October 2026 and a demo has been downloadable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC, with save data carrying over to the retail version. So the honest status split is: mechanics below are documented, but no walkthrough page on this site has been verified against the 1.0 retail build yet. When one appears it will carry a patch stamp.
The three systems that will generate the searches
Everything KONAMI has published points at the same conclusion: this is a metroidvania whose friction is concentrated in unlocks and routes, not in execution.
| System | How it works | Why it drives searches |
|---|---|---|
| Arcana | Defeated bosses are sealed into Rose's tarot cards and become Arcana, granting spells and unique actions | Players want to know which boss gives which Arcana, and whether the one they skipped is required to progress |
| Seven weapon categories | Beyond the whip, the game ships seven distinct weapon categories | "Best weapon for X" and category-tier questions, the classic metroidvania long tail |
| Relics | Equippable items serving both offensive and defensive roles | Slot choices and where each relic is found |
| No navigation arrows | Ghosts throughout the world describe their own fates in text, and those descriptions hint at hidden passages; classic breakable hidden walls are confirmed | The single highest-intent problem in the game: "I know there is a wall here, which wall" |
Confirmed at a glance
| Item | Detail | Confidence |
|---|---|---|
| Release | 15 October 2026, Switch / PC (Steam) / PS5 / Xbox Series X | S |
| Demo | Live on all four platforms; PS5 6 GB, Xbox 5 GB, Switch 3 GB, PC 4 GB; save carries over | High — KONAMI at TGS 2026, re-reported 2026-10-04 |
| Demo scope | Opening chapter; one hands-on covered game start through three bosses in just over 2 hours | Medium — IGN Japan preview |
| Setting | 1499 Paris, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse; also continues Akumajou Dracula: Yami no Juin | High — KONAMI, and treated as official canon, not a spin-off |
| Protagonist | Rose Belmont, Trevor's daughter; carries Dracula's curse in her right arm | High |
| Type | Exploration 2D action. KONAMI's Tommy Williams explicitly denied roguelike/roguelite in March 2026 | High |
| Length | ~20–25 hours to finish; more for 100% | Medium — producer interview |
| Endings | Multiple, via a dialogue/choice system with 25+ characters; lead writer Marie Ruezier (ex-A Plague Tale: Requiem) | High |

| Confirmed bosses | Death, Medusa, a corrupted Joan of Arc | Medium — press hands-on |
| Frame rate | 60 fps target; Switch locked to 30 fps | High — official spec page |
| Install | 8 GB standard (4 GB Switch); 10 GB Midnight (6 GB Switch) | High |
| Price | $29.99 standard / $39.99 Midnight Edition | Medium-high |
| Bonuses | Pre-order or launch-window purchase: Alucard-style costume. Midnight adds a Trevor-style and a Sypha-style costume, the Family's Grace Relic, and a digital sound & art gallery (100+ illustrations) | High |
Demo reception is not uniform — which is useful information
Press hands-ons were strongly positive, with one outlet suggesting it could rival Symphony of the Night. But there is visible dissent: a Steam community demo review called the performance a letdown and the game a setback for the franchise, and a ResetEra prediction thread had its median Metacritic expectation in the 81–83 band with a meaningful slice voting 84–86.
Do not read either side as settled. What it actually tells a guide writer: if performance complaints are real, day one will include a steady stream of "frame drops", "stutter" and "PC settings" searches, and those are cheap for a small site to win because big wikis deprioritise troubleshooting. That is why this hub's planned first pages include a performance page rather than only maps.
Planned coverage, in publication order
- Hidden route and secret wall index, by area — the marker-less exploration problem
- Arcana list: which boss unlocks which, and what each is needed for — including whether any are missable
- Weapon category and relic reference — seven categories plus offensive/defensive relics
- Boss patterns: Death, Medusa, Joan of Arc and the rest as encountered
- Demo carry-over and pre-order/edition value — cheap evergreen traffic before release
- Ending branch map — 25+ characters, choice tree, "did I miss an ending"
- PC performance and settings — conditional on demo complaints surviving into the retail build
- 100% checklist with missables flagged
A linear full walkthrough comes last. That is what everyone else ships on day one; items 1–4 are what a small site wins on.
