Pre-release hub — launch is tomorrow
Gears of War: E-Day launches 6 October 2026 (7 October Beijing time) on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it is available day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Early access for Premium Edition buyers and Game Pass subscribers with the Premium Upgrade began on 1 October.

What E-Day is
A prequel set 14 years before the original Gears of War. Players control a young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day — the Locust Horde's first eruption from underground that killed roughly two-thirds of the human population. The campaign is the core product; multiplayer (Horde Siege remake and PvP) is the secondary offering.
Built on Unreal Engine 5. PC version supports DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS and Unreal TSR upscaling, plus hardware ray tracing and NVIDIA's new MegaLights technology for hundreds of shadow-casting lights in a single scene.
PS5 version cancelled
Gears of War: E-Day was originally expected to come to PlayStation 5 as well. Per Eurogamer's report of Jeff Grubb's coverage (June 2026), the PS5 version was cancelled and Xbox confirmed it as an Xbox console exclusive. PC remains available via Steam, Microsoft Store and Game Pass.
