What the October patches actually change
Valve shipped two updates in the first week of October 2026, continuing a pattern of frequent small fixes following the Rush Hour update in late September. Neither update changes gameplay — they are quality-of-life and infrastructure fixes.
2 October update
The photobooth fix ensures agents display their equipped gloves correctly in photo captures. Previously, some glove skins would not render or would show the default gloves. The workshop convar whitelist was expanded to allow community map creators access to additional console variables. The grenade crosshair rendering bug at 3-pixel thickness was also resolved.
5 October update
The Pet Photobook feature received localisation support for additional languages. A new in-game menu button lets you manage downloaded workshop maps directly, removing the need to navigate Steam's file system. The VK shader cache extension flags were adjusted for better Vulkan compatibility on Linux and Steam Deck.
