What this hub covers
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 launched on 1 October 2026 with the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event. Version 42.30 introduced the Sprites system (collectible power-ups that modify your abilities), map-wide Halloween transformations and a wave of horror-IP collaborations including FNAF, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel and Beetlejuice.
Key changes in v42.30
- New Sprites system. Geno inserts a Cursed Cartridge into the Override console, granting island-wide modifiers. Spooky Dash, Vampire and Deer Sprites each change movement, combat or survivability.
- Map changes. Two new POIs, Halloween decorations across existing landmarks and Fortnitemares Sprites scattered at new spawn points.
- Weapon vaulting. Drum Gun, Ranger Assault Rifle and Tetris Rift item vaulted. New Exotic Candy throwable added.
- Horde Rush returns. The PvE horde mode is back as a limited-time mode for the Fortnitemares season.
- Blitz Royale and Reload updates. Reload changes took effect on 8 October.
