2026 platform changes

Nexus Mods made two significant changes in 2026:

Nexus Mods App deprecated. In January 2026, the team announced that the Nexus Mods App (the alternative to Vortex) is paused indefinitely. All development resources are now focused on Vortex.

File hash restoration. The May 2026 monthly report confirmed that missing file hashes have been restored for integrity checking, improving compatibility with mod managers and connected tools.

Conflict resolution workflow

Vortex's built-in conflict system uses visual indicators (lightning bolts, red exclamation marks) to flag when two mods modify the same files. The recommended resolution order is:

  1. LOOT auto-sort for basic load order
  2. Manual priority adjustment for remaining conflicts
  3. Custom rules in the rule editor for specific mod pairs
  4. Merge patches for unresolvable file conflicts
